First steps in cold climes

Winfried Vogt and Christina Paap in Lapland

Rovaniemi, Finland

On their latest art trip, Winfried Vogt and Christina Paap from artefantastisch.de into the snowy expanses of Finland. A highlight was a visit to Lapin Taiteilijaseura, the Lapland Artists' Association, which brings together over 100 Finnish artists. There they had the opportunity to have an inspiring conversation with Elisa Alaluusua, one of the association's central voices.

The exchange focused on opportunities for international cooperation and the exchange of creative ideas between Finnish artists and artefantastisch. Alaluusua reported on her association's diverse projects: from painting and sculpture to digital media and experimental performance art. The range reflects Lapland's cultural diversity — from traditional crafts to contemporary, avant-garde works.

“It is fascinating to see how art is lived and shared here in the cold climes of Finland,” say Vogt and Paap. “Lapin Taiteilijaseura opens doors to a community of artists who want to think and act not only locally but internationally. ”

The openness to cooperation was particularly impressive: The artists are interested in making their works accessible to a global audience via platforms such as artefantastisch. At the same time, this exchange creates new perspectives for both sides — from joint exhibitions to innovative art projects that connect cultures.

The visit marked the beginning of a promising journey: artefantastisch plans to present selected Finnish artists and establish long-term collaborations that strengthen the creative dialogue between Scandinavia and the international art market.
