On their recent trip to Asia, Winfried Vogt and Christina Paap from artefantastisch.de spent a special evening in Bangkok dedicated entirely to art. Under the title “One Night in Bangkok,” they now report on their inspiring discovery tour through selected galleries in the Thai capital.
Bangkok has been developing into a vibrant hub for contemporary art in Southeast Asia for years. For Vogt and Paap, the metropolis was therefore an ideal starting point for finding new talent and capturing current trends in the Asian art scene.
The evening took them through renowned and up-and-coming galleries — from urban loft spaces to hidden art houses in narrow side streets. They were offered a surprising variety: abstract paintings by young local artists, experimental mixed media installations, politically influenced street art concepts and works that reinterpret traditional Thai motifs.
“We deliberately wanted to visit places where art is not only exhibited but lived,” report Vogt and Paap. “Bangkok is full of creative energy. This city attracts talent from across the region, and it was right there that we wanted to discover new voices to inspire us for future projects. ”
Their goal: to find promising creative artists whose works can be presented on artefantastisch.de in the future. Initial contacts have already been made, and the team sees the trip as an important impetus for expanding international art collaborations.
